01. Choose the VPS type

  1. Go to https://contabo.com/en/windows-servers-vps/arrow-up-right

  2. Choose the VPS you want. A higher price means better performance. If you plan to run 1 to 3 MT4 or MT5 platforms, the Cloud VPS 10 is more than enough.

  3. Click on Get Started and continue with the setup.

02. Choose Your VPS Specs

This may look complicated, but it is actually very simple. Just follow these steps.

  • Term length Choose whatever you prefer. Longer plans are usually cheaper.

  • Region Keep this set to Best.

  • Storage type 150 GB SSD is enough if you run 1 to 3 MT4 or MT5 platforms. If you plan to run more than 3, choose 300 GB SSD.

  • Image Select Windows Server.

  • Data protection with auto backup Select No Data Protection.

  • Additional features Keep everything on the default settings.

  • Add-ons Keep everything on the default settings.

  • Login and password Choose a password and save it. You will need this password together with the IP address to connect to your VPS.

03. Create an account & pay

Once you have selected your VPS and chosen the specs, continue to the next screen. There you can create your account and complete the payment for the VPS. After payment, your VPS will be set up and ready to use.

04. Connecting to Your Contabo VPS

Connecting to Your VPS via Remote Desktop

You're almost there! Let’s connect to your VPS using Remote Desktop Connection, a built-in Windows app.

1. Enable Remote Desktop connection on your VPS

  • First you need to make sure your VPS allows you to connect to it. On your VPS, go to 'Settings', then look for 'Remote desktop settings'. Click it, and make sure 'Enable Remote Desktop' is turned on.

2. Open Remote Desktop Connection

  • On your own Windows PC, press Start, type Remote Desktop Connection, and open the app.

3. Enter the IP Address

  • In the popup window, find the field labeled Computer.

  • Enter the IP address (can be found in your Contabo account, check their guide).

4. Enter Login Credentials

  • You’ll now be asked for your username and password:

    • Username: Administrator

    • Password: The password you created.

5. Connect to Your VPS

  • After entering your credentials, click OK.

  • You might see a warning about the certificate: click Yes to continue.

🎉 Done! A new window will open showing your VPS desktop{ basically a full Windows PC in the cloud. Congratulations, your VPS is now fully set up and ready to use!

1. Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security

  • On your VPS desktop, open Server Manager (you can find it in the Start menu).

  • In the left menu, click on Local Server.

  • Look for IE Enhanced Security Configuration on the right.

  • Click it, and turn it off for both Administrators and Users.

🔒 This makes browsing and downloading much easier on your VPS.
